Subject: LOST:why didn't desmond tell the ppl that when he didnt press the button the hatch started shaking?

ud think he wouldve told them that in the first few episodes.. cuz he seemed very freaked out when it happened.. and considering that the writers had already cast penelope from the 3rd ep (bcs of her pic with desmond), ud think they wouldnt look over sthg like this..

also, why did the ppl on the island never see desmond??? he obviously was able to get out of the hatch from the main door.. when john banged on the hatch door and yelled at the hatch (and desmond heard), why didnt desmond just go up?

the only reason i can think of is oversight (by the writers)..
