SMG was the primary medium through which Joss passed his vision to the public. And also a contributing member to the team. Her insights are of value. Less than the creators of course - but of value.

This is directly related to both the interest level, creative foresight and imagination of the viewer. Yes these topics were touched upon but hardly detailed. I also didn't realize, that among his many talents, that Joss was also an actor. It isn't that I have a tremendously high regard for actors overall but I do respect their externallized interpretation of the work and what it brings and adds. Which Joss himself has admitted was an improvement upon his own written word or vision.
