I'd read that the demons were more general than that.
They were teenagers' (not just BVtS's teenagers)
metaphorical demons incarnate.

Once upon a time, I read that BVtS was about high school,
"not as parents remember it, but as it really was".


To the degree that Buffy is real,
the earth with vampires is the real one.
The place to look for clues is not NA,
it's in all the episodes with scenes
that included neither Buffy nor her point of view.
That is pretty strange for a hallucination.
