Actually Joss' cure story is the first in X-men canon. The story that your thinking about is from the the 90's animated series which was printed in comic book form and involved Apocalypse and such. This movie was a little bit of the Phoenix mini that just came out.(ending with Wolverine)Joss' Astonishing.(the whole mutant cure and the doctor that invented it and Beasts whole thought process about it.)The whole movie was a mishmash of current(2000-now) X-men arcs put together to create a realistic story. I enjoyed it, but yes Joss' story was the predominant thing he just didn't use Leech as the cure.
