She stated her case clearly and with a great deal of wisdom, wisdom Angel couldn't deny.

She probably took a shot of scotch the minute she got home.

Being that her daughter was in love with Angel it's hard to simply make the point that Angel was after an underaged girl just to get an underaged girl. Both Joyce and the Mayor made good points about the age factor getting them one way or the other. Angel will always be older but Buffy would in fact grow old and die while Angel would stay the same, if he didn't trip and fall on a stake or something. Angel couldn't give Buffy a normal life that mom's want for their daughters. The facts spoke for themselves, she didn't have to play the heavy.
