Theres something I don't understand fidhle. I am not an actor and never will be but how is a character more completely explored in a play, which is static (not counting the inner growth and realizations of the actor themselves which is an understandable given), than a television series which is basically an ever growing character statement. Agreed that the repetition of lines again and again doesn't lend itself to an actualization and reactualization of a character but it would seem 7 years (in this case) would stand up pretty well to the nightly repetition even in front of a live audience.
