Thanks, Maverick- I think I've got most of Badlands- might be missing number 8 I think, but that's ok, I'll grab that. I think comparing the two, I'm struggling to get the plot moving, yours is flying along! I'd make that a critisism as I enjoyed reading it, and was hoping that there'd be more ;o) That's the only thing- I'd like to read more about the characters and what's happening at the time- it seems a shame to almost "rush" past the action in places, but then you can tell that's how I feel from the way I write, eh?
I'll settle for waiting for the next installment I suppose...
I'm well aware of the "fag" reference cultural difference, and I admit to playing a little on the difference in meaning (fags, cigs, smokes, tabs, all Brit slang for cigarettes). I made sure to include it only in character speech- along with the other thoughts and conversation- I've tried to avoid using slang of any kind in the "narrative" bits... Wait til you see my efforts at reproducing american dialogue ;o) all those films and tv shows must be useful...
I currently cite my influences (albeit not yet apparent) as :
Steven Segal movies (marked for death particularly), the simpsons(!), years of motorsport spectating, sundry horror films, white wolf's Vampire: The Masquerade rpg and i76, of course... And reading the Badlands on DV made me decide to pay VOX a visit and get started... So it's all your fault, in a way :o) There's other things rattling round my brain, of course, but the above are what I recognise as specifically influencing the story.
As I've said, I'm happier/(better?) describing the moment than creating an interesting plot- if you've got an idea for a story... (that wouldn't suit the Badlands obviously ;o) sure- I need more reasons to be doing something other than shooting cars :o)
We'll see how I'm doing with the progression on this one, but drop me a line if you've got any good ideas I can steal- er I mean storylines you'd be interested in sharing :o)

Thanks for the comments...
Badlands #11?...

cheers
AE:-)
