His car is a 1949 Hermes Coupe (think a slightly modifed "hot 50" from I'82) with three 7.62's in the front, a Dr. Radar on the roof, and a spike dropper in the back. Its a dark red color, and during down time Bishop likes to keep it as clean as possible.

Bishop Singer's parents met near the end of WW2 in France-his father was a pilot, one of the Tuskegee Airmen (the black fighter pilots) and his mother was an army nurse. His father had been injured in a dogfight and ended up in his mothers care. They fell in love, moved back to the states and tried to start a family. Bishop was born in 1947, and though they tried to have other children, were unsuccessful. Though it was very hard at first, they eventually settled in New Jersey, where his father became a flight instructor at a nearby Air Force base. His childhood was uneventful, until his mother died in a car accident when he was 15. Soon afterwards, he went to a military academy to precipitate entering the air force and becoming a pilot. 2 months before graduation, his father died in a horrific training accident involving his plane, a recruit, and a supermarket. The official inquiry found his father at fault, and 2 days before graduation, Bishop was expelled from the academy for "dishonorable behavior." This being 1965, 2 weeks after that a letter arrived from the draft board and he was sent to vietnam.

While in the 'nam, he was involved in an incident with a general which resulted in his being transferred to a top secret organization called Department M.Dept. M was founded during world war 2-it was the top secret arm of the OSS. Dept. M's mission was to carry out the dirtiest sides of the war-infiltrate spy networks and assassinate the leaders, insinuate themselves into places like The Soviet Union and China for long term deep cover assignments. One of the favorite stories that used to go around was about the time a sniper had Adolf Hitler dead to rights but didn't fire because of unclear orders. Department M did such a good job, no ever even knew they existed.

In the late 40's and 50's, they dealt with the "Red Menace", but instead of going after high profile targets, preferred to deal with the real problems. In an ironic turn of events, they had targeted Senator Joseph McCarthy for investigation, and were partially instrumental in helping to shut down his investigation.

In the 60's, their focus turned to The Middle East and Southeast Asia(S.E.A.), and this was when Bishop joined the outfit. After a 6 week training course, during which time he was qualified as a pilot on single engine and multi engine propeller craft, and on multi-engine jet aircraft. The next few years he embarked on a variety of odd-jobs for the Department, from shuttling goods around S.E.A. with Wing to assassinations in Pakistan with Johnny. He built up a good rep, and was rising inside the department, when the leadership structure changed, and he found himself dealing with the "glass ceiling." After that, the assignments started to change. Bishop soon found himself dealing with shadier people and assignments....

After the disastrous rescue attempt of the hostages in Iran, Bishop began to suspect that the mission had been sabotaged. He resigned from the Department to try and track down the man responsible, Simon Thane, and figure out who he was working for and why.....
