From what I've seen......yes, there is conformation and then there is conformation.

BTW, That is a good question. Sammy wasn't mentioned any further into the book, so I don't know what happened to him.

Personally I think that the epitomy of modern day breeding practices of a viable working dog would be found in the sled dog group. They perform better and better as the decades pass by and they are in great shape. They are constantly tested for physical imperfections (conformation), endurance, trainability and sociability within their packs along with the heavy mental stressors of pulling weight for miles under the cold harsh weather of the Alaskan winters. I have often thought that it would be great to actually be able to experience and live that type of life.

P.S. I'm not saying that people should strive to train their BB to be a sled dog. Definately not the sport or activity for a BB. Within a half hour it would fall down and die of a heat stroke while laying on the SNOW!!!! :)
