Subject: New Club Announcement

We have been working on putting this together for the past year or so, many drafts have been made and much thought put into the formation of a breed club to provide SABT members with a way to unite and present matters of interest to the parent organization, as well as to provide a democratic voice to those in North America to plan events and decide matters of importance to the boerboel. I am simply announcing the club in an open forum to let everyone who may be interested know it is available. There will be no further solicitations or advertisements made on my/our part. I will not respond publicly to questions/posts regarding the Club. If you have sincere questions about the club and wish to be involved (not merely information gathering or pot-stirring) then please feel free to email the club secretary (Gina Gramlich) directly.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Boerboel Alliance of North America would like to extend an invitation to all eligible boerboel owners to join the BANA. The BANA is in the process of becoming an SABT affiliated club (i.e. SABT sanctioned). There has been much discussion and thought put into the Club�s Constitution and Code of Ethics. The Club will eventually (based on membership and the desire of those members to participate) have Board Representatives from all over the US, an SABT Delegate, and elected Officers that will serve 2 year terms. All potential members must be SABT members (or willing to join SABT) as well as agree to adhere to the Code of Ethics. A variety of committees will be formed to research, discuss, and plan items of interest to the Club�s members regarding the boerboel. There will also be educational seminars/opportunities at least annually (i.e. hip testing methods, basics of genetics, CGC and ATTS, breed history, breeding strategies, puppy temperament testing, the appraisal system, using the appraisal in a breeding scheme). The Club will host annual appraisal(s) and other events of interest to Club Members. The main focus of the Club will be to establish sound breeding practices and to ensure that the boerboel�s health (mental and physical) is sound. Plans are also in the works to publicly recognize boerboels that have had various health and temperament assessments performed or that have achieved other accomplishments that are of benefit to the breed as determined by the Club members.

At this time we have approximately 20 people interested in membership. The founding Officers are listed below and will serve until the Annual General Meeting in the fall of 2006:
