Terry,
This is good news. I remember when this same organization could not understand the necessity of testing temperament, working aptitude, or physical abilities, and could not be moved to do so. Now, finally, it seems the sabt will be obliged to sanction an outside club to keep stride with what has been going on in the Boerboel world for the last several years. Too many owners/breeders in the U.S. and Europe have asked for more meaningful methods of preserving and maintaining this breed. I too hope it spills over into their non-functional sabt appraisal system. Glad to see they have changed their minds on these issues. I wonder why? I have been an avid observer of all things Boerboel since they arrived in this country…I’ve even kept notes on the happenings and conversations of the early days. Because of all that has taken place, and all the jockeying for position that I have witnessed, I am left wondering…did the reasonable and responsible dog-people in the U.S. successfully petition the sabt for much needed change?? Or did the sabt decide that this movement toward testing and verifying the attributes of the capable and historically correct Boerboel was going to steal a good portion of their market share?? Maybe they finally see the light…maybe they are just feeling pressure.

This Boerboel deal has been nothing if not predictable…well, that and amusing. There is already a club (perhaps several) established for testing Boerboels. Why a further division? Simply because the sabt wants/needs to control and dictate every facet of the Boerboel market…even if they have to be shown how to do it. Very amusing. Here is the sad part, all these divisions, closed registrations, regulations, gene-pool limitations, and general distrust among Boerboel breeders IS the problem…every new political division HURTS the breed.

Showcase the ability of the Boerboel?? That is already being done…welcome aboard.

For the North American Boerboel club
