I think its perfectly fine. I discovered Irish dance when I was four, but started 2 weeks before I turned 15. And I've been dancing on and off since (can't really afford it). I have other friends who have started in their late teens and in their adulthood. It doesn't bother at me... they're my favorite figuring partners.
