Subject: A sad farewell to Cafe Diem.

I know it was a mild show, but I truly enjoyed all of the characters on Eureka. From what I read, the network wanted to keep it, but it's new parent company (Comcast) didn't like the profit margins. So sad for a show that was fun scifi that you could actually watch with kids. It had a lot of heart.

This show has one of my favorite tunes to whistle. I thought it was gone so many times, the last season was my "give your heart time warning" so I was glad to have it and I will miss the goofiness and "clever solutions." It's really a world that doesn't die; it's probably that restaurant at the end of the universe all the other books talk about. I think that is good and string theory enough to work!

Syfy--still think they don't understand "cult" for all the self absorption. I should do a check on "shouldn't have been cancelled" I'd guess their percentage has to be up in the strasophere.

I am sorry for your feeling bad, sparkle. Getting attached to these people proves the actual success of what was done. I'll never get over Buffy and Angel, but I gotta tell ya...some of the stuff they think these people would do sprains your eye balls. (comics)

I imagine people write fan fic on every possible show, so there just might be someone who knows how to tell a story you would like to see. Maybe you will fall in love again and you won't be driven mad with threats of cancellation every other week. I hope so. Even for me, so we can hold hands until they do! (Maybe you will be driven to do it for yourself and share it. Big point of Joss's at SDCC to get out there and DYI, write it, vid it, draw it, DO IT! We are here and probably a good audience!
Be well!

Actually, I think Eureka left just in time. The last season was good and did visit some new ground but there was also a lot of formulaic stuff as well. The final scene was apropos with the sherriff leaving and arriving at the same time and saying he would deal with it tomorrow.

Unlike the end of Buffy we can imagine a Eureka that goes on forever. They could just as easily have had the whole town sucked into a wormhole and imploded. Glad they didn't.

It also allows another network to possibly pick up. IF that happens, I hope they pick up the storylines a little, as you mentioned. I mean I loved it even though it was fairly formulaic. But with the end "save" by the guy from BSG, it could be a different take. Ok, I guess I'll just let it go! *sigh*

they probably can still have a character show up there if they want. The season premier of W13 was pretty good. We were all expecting a rewind when they showed the watch at the end of last season but the bonus of unleashing evil to do it is a nice twist, especially when the evil isn't who you might expect.

I forgot about the crossovers so there is always that opportunity. Thanks for the reminder.

I, too, will miss Eureka. We don't get the last ever until this Wednesday. However, it's been inventive and fun and affectionate - and we need affectionate.

It's a good thing that it's going while we would miss it - no show should outstay its welcome - but actually, I'd love to see some crossovers because it had such good humour. And this world needs humour too. We need Carter and Alison and Fargo because they perk up a little bit of our souls and make us think ... 'What if ...?' And could I dare?

Ah well, all good things must end eventually.
