Michael jumped as the door opened slowly. Looking up he fisted his hands and glared at the large guard standing at the threshold, his arms crossed over his massive chest.
“What do you want?” He whispered.
Omar smiled, shaking his head he stepped closer to Michael and pulling the toilet seat down he took a seat.
“What do I want you ask? Let me tell you what I want my young friend.”
Michael stiffened, his gaze searching the older man’s face for any weakness.
Omar shook his head, chuckling he reached over and turned the water off. “Don’t try it kid, you’d end up drowned and Shantal would not like that.”
Michael hissed softly as he heard the window creaking. Looking up, he squinted and noticed the brightness growing.
“Stay out of here!” He shouted.
“Gadari, fix some dinner, were starved.” Omar shouted as the window opened.
Gadari lifted his hand and waved, closing the window once again he slowly returned to the fire and took a seat, he began to slowly peel several large potatoes for breakfast.
“Yeah always the same, even at home I was to help mamma while Omar enjoyed papa’s company.” He grumbled softly as he peeled the potatoes.
Omar chuckled softly. Taking the towel off the rack he reached out and offered it to a trembling Michael. “Cold water and a cold floor will not help you feel better
you know.”
Michael lifted his shaking hand and snatched the towel out of Omar’s grasp. Covering his lap he slowly pushed himself up. He leaned against the tile covered wall and sighed. Looking around he noticed how quiet the place was. Shifting
his weight he slowly lifted his gaze and met Omar’s disturbed dark eyes.
“Where is she?”
Omar shrugged. “Kalifah arrived and took her away. She’ll be back as soon as Jamil is finished.”
Michael felt a hot poker of jealousy tear it’s way down his spine, settling dangerously hot in his lower belly. “So she broke her promise. What else is new?” Michael stated as he wrapped the towel around his waist and stepped
shakily out of the shower.
“Aztr-errrr I mean Shantal never breaks her promise!” Omar stated angrily.
Michael shrugged and slowly stepped out of the bathroom, he carefully walked back toward the bed of pillows.
“Everyone always breaks their promises, don’t expect more than the usual from her.” he whispered as he slowly lowered his trembling body to rest upon the pillows.
Omar stood and glared at Michael. “Shantal has never broken her promise! She is loyal and the only woman I have known that does not care for the fancy jewels and clothes she receives.” He watched as Michael curved himself into a fetal position upon the pillows, his curly hair damp, his limbs trembling softly. He could hear the soft chattering of his teeth. Cursing he spun around and slammed the closet
open, pulling down a large blanket he returned to Michael’s side and covered him.
Michael stared confused at Omar. Slowly he clutched the blanket in his fist and rolled himself inside the blanket, slowly his limbs stopped shaking. Looking up he noticed Omar standing at the door, looking out toward the brightening sky. “I’m a prisoner, why should anyone care what happens to me?”
Omar looked at Michael and smiled. “We normally don’t, but Shantal has taken a fancy to you and we like to please her.”
Michael sighed, the warmth of his cocoon began to take it’s desired effect. Sniffing delicately he noticed the smell of cooking food and smiled.
“Am I going to be fed?” Cringing inside for asking such a question.
Omar chuckled. “Yes you will be fed, but you must wait until it’s ready.” He turned and walked toward Michael. Seeing him stiffen, Omar stopped and leaned against the column. “Are you in pain?”
Michael shook his head, wincing at the sharp pain that shot through it. Omar nodded. “You don’t have to hide your pain, soon you will be in too much pain to handle it and Shantal does know how to help you deal with it safely.” The older man stated as he walked out of the room.
Michael watched Omar walk into the garden and slowly forced himself to sit up. Noticing the slight trembling of his hands, he frowned and clutched them tightly in his lap. His eyes widened as his stomach roiled. “Withdrawal, I should have expected this. After so many drugs no telling how bad this will get.” He thought as he took deep, even breaths. Closing his eyes he laid back down and rested his
head on a pillow.
