....this story has engendered so much thought and good discussion. IMO that is what a well-crafted creation does whether it's a story, a building, a painting, etc.
We each look at the creation from our individual points of view. We react individually and, if we aren't too timid to take the risk, we can share what we see.

As I return to the story in question, to this point, I can see 3 possible interpretations:
1. My first reaction was, and continues to be, that the story represents a straight-out revenge ploy on M's part.

2. The story represents a 'reconnection' with Nikita together with a lesson to illustrate to her just how he felt when she said 'I don't love you. I never did.'

3. The story is about Nikita's own guilty conscience expressing itself through an erotic dream which twists into a nightmare of guilt.

I'm sure there may be other ways to interpret the story, too.---Q
