...Michael's feline grace, perfectly. Lovely contrast with how scattered and riotous Nikita is... and yet, with the comparison of their hands, in Chapter 2, there's an immediate sense that, despite outward appearances, these *are* kindred and complimentary souls. :-D
Love lines like "She always looked a little peculiar without her eyebrows." Just a *leetle bit,* hey? LOL She's so calm, accepting, and matter-of-fact about the things that would *excite* other people (like having set herself on fire--again LOL), and so scattered and excited by things that most folks would understand, implicitly and immediately, like why she's reacting the way she is to Michael. :-D
Oooooooooh. We've all seen Mikey look at Nikita in *that* way. No wonder she's feeling all hot and tingly... and not *just* from the fire, itself. *g* ;-P
These are fabulous lines, too: "Although it's not so bad cold. It just tastes even more purple." LOL Describes cold borscht perfectly. *g* But, you're making me *hungry,* now. Mmmmmmm... borscht and homemade perogies. *slurp* *g* I've never been a fan of cabbage rolls, but I know they're favorites with many folks too...
Great scene where she's watching him in the wheat field--only Mikey could pull that off, with that graceful, minimalistic style of his.
LOL over the last line, too. Yeah, why would *she* have to be careful? *as smoke is still curling up from her singed clothing* LOL *g*
Well, I can tell this story is going to have something *else* in common with borscht--one serving of it just isn't going to be enough. :-D Figuratively, I'm scraping the bottom of my soup bowl, here, sopping up the last of it with homemade bread, and then saying 'Mmmmmmmmm' while holding my bowl out for more deeelicious servings of this heavenly stuff... ;-D *g* {{{{{{{Bonnie}}}}}}}}
If you've ever seen the Walter Mathau movie where his character wound up looking after a helpless, scattered botanist named "Henrietta," this tale reminds me of that, a bit, too. It's a sweet movie, if you haven't seen it. :-D
Hugs,
Sanlin
