Wow! What a wonderful change in the weather. Too bad it came in dry (in Olathe, but not in Lees Summit, I know).
Took the day off today (Friday) and headed to Sedalia with enough gas to get there. Glad I did, as they did not jack it up last week like KC did, we filled up at $1.189.
Then we spent a most DELIGHTFUL day at the Fair! Not very crowded, C-O-O-L, and everything was up and running. We dropped on the State Fair Queen competition, and after the 10 finalists had their say, Roberta had the winner nailed. The fairgrounds are beautifully landscaped, especially near the MO Highway Dept. building, and we enjoyed just walking around and taking it all in. Not a lot of food variety, every other stand sold corn dogs, it seemed. Hardly any ears of corn (what is a State Fair without that?) and nary a blooming onion anywhere. The MO pork producers had the best deal, though, a dinner with two thick, juicy pork chops was just $8.50.
We didn't do any of the shows, it just seems that the older you get, the less likely it is that the music will appeal to you. It does set you back to look around and realize that 9 out of 10 people you see are younger than you!
