Sit down before I tell you. DW is performing King Lear at the Minerva Theatre in Chichester from May-September. I'm going to go be depressed for a while ...

DW as King Lear! Speaking of what roles he should play! Why didn't we think of it before?! (Maybe cuz he doesn't seem old enough yet? :-))

We studied the play in a Shakespeare course I took last year. Lear is supposed to be an incredibly difficult role. Some Shakespeare scholars argue that it's "unactable"! But if anybody can do it, David Warner can. I bet he's going to be awesome.

I take it you're trapped on this side of the pond too, Agatha. How long do you suppose it would take us to *swim* across? ;-)

I found the official site for the theatre:

So if we can't afford to get over there to see the play, how much do you suppose they want for that poster?!

I'm sure he'll be great, I'm just sad I won't get to see it :~(. Hopefully he'll get some good press out of it! And bigger roles ...

Yeah, I am. Why can't I get quality Shakespeare by RSC vets in Indianapolis? Oh, I know, all our tax money is going to buy a new stadium for a loser football team.

I DO like the poster. The picture is very small, I can't tell if he has a beard or not. For some reason, Lear always seems to have a beard. I'd have to read the play again to see if it's mentioned specifically.
