Well, I only saw the 2001 Last Night on TV, and there I was very impressed with Audra McDonald's performance; but maybe she just came better off in close-ups and closely miked. Then, I heard her singing the Eileen in Bernstein's Wonderful Town and loved it. And since I like John Adams' music and liked his conducting last season, this Prom is one on my list.

I share your general feelings about Wagner (and about the Francesca last season as well - what a pity we will not get the Bournemouth SO and/or Marin Alsop this season), but I already outed myself as a "Rattlemaniac" from Berlin on the BBC-messageboard (there is also a threat about Slatkin's potential successors there) and I am curiously looking forward to see what he and the OAE will do with / to Rheingold.
