Well (assuming you mean me), I've only been to two Proms so far (first night and Elektra last night).

I've restricted myself to waffling on on the BBC Proms forum thus far. Mainly, and perhaps inevitably for me, in a de-facto "BBC Philharmonic Anoraks" thread.

I'd concluded that the BBC site had (unfortunately in many respects) stolen the thunder of this "other place". The almost complete lack of reviews last year on the PUHP suggested that this aspect had died a death. The forum is fairly quiet these days too.

The reviews on the BBC site are of, er, shall we say variable quality, and generally rather brief. I particularly enjoyed the one which suggested replacing the BBC Concert Orchestra with the Royal Marines Band for RVW's Lark Ascending! So, it's good to see the return of Gary's reviews over here. Since he and I have appeared to share rather similar tastes and views over the years (with one or two notable exceptions, e.g. Schmidt's "Book of the Seven Seals" - yeuch!), I can't really add a lot so far. Ideally it would be good to get some differing viewpoints....

I may pen some vacuous waffle on the subject of Elektra once I've recovered from the actual performance! Now there was a concert which answered to the "sends you out onto the Gore with spinning head and ringing ears" description!! And what a charming libretto. I particularly enjoyed Strauss' setting of the phrase "suppurating boils"!!! And the BBCSSO were amazing - sounded more like the Vienna Philharmonic at times. Another "regional" BBC group (along with my favourite Mancunians) who could blow several London Ensembles clean out of the water....
