 Doesn't surprise me. He's gets an occasional airing as a sort of "concession to the proles".

In fairness, he's put a lot of noses out of joint (between his pacifism and acid condemnation of avant-gardeism)and no-one could ever accuse him of being "progressive", which seems to be an end in itself for some reason.

The trick is to concoct some pseudo-intellectual dirge audially reminiscent of someone murdering 100 musicians slowly and by convoluted means. If you can also come up with a few hundred lines of rarified hyberbole to put in a programme note, well, you're made for life. *:-}
