Either I have my facts wrong, or there exists an ideal situation for both UCSB and Westmont. Last year's exhibition game did not count in our standings (RPI, NCAA, or otherwise). Most, if not all, UCSB fans find this the ideal situation.

Here's where my facts get kinda fuzzy. I thought that in the eyes of Westmont and *their* sanctioning bodies, the game counted as an official game, thus effecting their power rankings. I would think that this represents a huge motivation for Westmont playing us. It's gotta be close to their ideal situation. Their only beef to it being an exhibition would be an issue of pride (being dissed). Hey, we're in the position of power with our relationship with Westmont. If given the choice between an "exhibition" or no game at all, the answer should be a no brainer.

From where I'm sittin', it looks like a win-win situation for both sports programs. Why not repeat what we did last year and schedule another D-1 home game?
