Subject: Joe Denardo Dies at 87

I was saddened to hear of Joe's passing. We was more than just a Pittsburgh icon, he was one of the last of the TV "personalities" on the air who actually had a personality. He was a bona-fide meteorologist, not just some actor who read the forecast. It's no surprise that he was on the air in Pittsburgh on WTAE, alongside Paul Long, another personality who had a real personality. I don't think there are any weather forecasters or news anchors like those two, who got by on talent and skill instead of well-coiffed and airbrushed good looks.
