Subject: 4/7 Lakeshore report

Rick King (Detroiter), Becky Cullen and I had 80 species between Magee and Maumee Bay State park today.

Best birds were a single MERLIN at the east end of the beach at Crane Creek, and a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD at the east end of the campground at MBSP. Also at MBSP in the campground was a single COMMON LOON.

FOX SPARROWS are at the peak of their migration, and were seen in all locations. HERMIT THRUSH, WINTER WREN, GC KINGLET, CREEPER, etc. were also in evidence but in rather small numbers.

Despite the south winds, the hawk flight never really materialized along the lake. There were a few of the expected species along with the merlin.
