Subject: Time to boycott NIT

This year the NIT is experimenting with their new AQ criteria. Years ago they adopted the 4 quarter but they dropped it after one year. So there is still some hope. For now if you not attending a NIT game in person, it need to be boycotted. Not just the fans but the “mid” and “low” majors as well. Why should quality teams hope for NIT table scraps? They should abstain and let the NIT further debase themselves. This is a good opportunity for CBI to expand by giving # 1 conference terms that weren’t selected by the NCAA Tournament. This is the perfect time for ESPN to stage a tournament for NIT castoffs. This situation good things will come from ESPN’s lecherous appetite for TV content.

ESPN owns the NIT, why would they stage a competing event?

Ghost: Your bring a great point of ESPN owning the NIT TV rights. Having them staging a NIT- competing event wouldn’t make much sense unless it was shown on ESPN 2 or ESPNU as a direct competitor to Fox’s Vegas Tournament. However, that seems unlikely.
