I am a naive fool from the past. How is this not professional sports with sponsoring colleges covering for investing alumni? Can an NIL investor get back a piece of the action?

I envision the next opportunity will be football kick off and Black classic games. Wrestling, gymnastics, cross country, swimming & diving and track & field should be ripe for NIL. I’m not sure if investors have enough interest. Maybe during Olympics trials could garner limited interest in these college sports. When NIL was instituted figuring out the boundaries would be a process of trial and error. Five years in I’m pessimistic about that. This spring NCAA said they’ll meet to brainstorm how to figure NIL out. Congress has held meetings about how to regulate NIL. I’m convinced nothing will come from their hearings because they did the same thing with the BCS with on results. At first NIL looked promising. I expected to see a projected first round QB to get the initial NIL endorsement. Instead it went to twin TikTok stars on the Fresno Women’s Basketball team. The twins were marketing students this in my opinion was a perfect example for NIL. Now NIL has turned “student”- athletes into mercenaries.

Reminds one of the old apocryphal story sometimes attributed to Winston Churchill:

"Madam, would you sleep with me for five million pounds?"

"I'd consider it."

"Would you sleep with me for 5 pounds?"

"What kind of woman do you think I am?"

"We've already established that, now we're negotiating price."
