Given the Ivy League starts much later than even many DIII teams, at the very least I think all the Ivies should have a live pre-season game/scrimmage. Here is my suggestion based on geography. Meet in the middle at a high school or other college. Invite parents and alums to attend.

Harvard vs. Dartmouth
Brown vs. Yale
Cornell vs. Columbia
Princeton vs. Penn

For example, Cornell and Columbia could srimmage at Nyack High School the 7th or 14th of Sept.

Outside scrimmages and junior varsity contests count as games for players who hope to grad transfer. Many want to save that year. That and smaller rosters resulting from the Ivy League cutting back on recruiting slots already largely eliminated junior varsity football and might have outside scrimmages in jeopardy.

For as long as I've been paying attention, we've had a scrimmage against an Ivy opponent.

I think the last one might have been against Harvard around 2013?

Happy to be corrected if I'm misremembering....

The last time Harvard scrimmaged an Ivy opponent in preseason was 2016 vs. Dartmouth.

Other than beating UNH, pretty much everything else went wrong for Dartmouth in 2016.
