Subject: Ho-Hum Brown over Georgetown

Perhaps I was expecting too much from Brown considering it was their first game. Their best weapon was Georgetown's ineptitude. Wilcox was off on many of his passes especially the long ones. Had Georgetown capitalized on their opportunities, they may have been the ones celebrating. In general, it was a poorly played game by both sides. Wilcox was sacked at least five times and was forced into many hurries. The Brown run game was okay but failed to show breakaway speed. The defense was good stopping the run but allowed too many completions. Brown will have to do a lot better next week against Harvard if they expect to win.

An alternate perspective: Brown played a C- game today and still easily beat a decent-to-good Patriot League team on the road in its first game of the season. The offense sputtered, but the defense didn’t miss a beat. That’s encouraging.

Went to the game -- really good turnout of Brown fans took up about 1/3 of the stadium. The offense was very inconsistent, and allowing 6 sacks -- twice Georgetown's average -- was a huge problem. The defense was good except it is still prone to allowing the big play.

@BrownFan: Before I say anything about the outcome, your Thoughts on the gameday experience? This is a problem which keeps many Georgetown fans away from the game.

While I didn't attend today, I have been to more than a few Georgetown games.

IMHO, the gameday experience is just fine.

This was my first time to the new stadium, and it is quite nice. The G'Town fans seemed fairly enthusiastic, but it's obviously still nothing like big-time basketball or football. The slightly curved benches in the stands are more comfortable than standard benches.

I see room for a few improvements. It was inexcusable to run out of water for fans on a hot day. It also takes a really long time to get into the stadium -- better signage for those with bags/no bags and an additional line would be great. Finally, G'Town needs to up its game for entertainment during the interminable media timeouts. There is no video screen, but lots of other forms of entertainment are possible -- cheerleader or pep band performance on the field, kids' competitions, etc.

FWIW, the games at my son's DIII school (Carleton) take a full hour less due to the lack of media timeouts. It's a huge difference, but that's obviously not Georgetown's fault.

My youngest and her friends always loved petting Jack the Bulldog at Hoya games.
