In reply to: Bengal 's message, "Lehigh 35 Princeton 20" on 22:19:51 09/21/24 Sat

Might the two point attempt reflect concern about the long snapper’s earlier performance?

As expected, the Tiger weakness is the offense line. Only 41 yards net rushing. They probably are overrated, but Lehigh had the advantage of already having played three games.

That explanation is both possible and discouraging.

Setting that aside for the moment, to all the folks who explained analytics for anyone who may have been unfamiliar with such things, I point out those stats are overall, and for all teams, without regard for circumstances.

But one must consider a team's own record, not the performance of other teams. PU was not great on short yardage during the game (4 failed 4th downs).

Also, take into account the specific circumstances. Here, PU had a 14 point deficit, had not shown great ability to stop Lehigh and had a rough offense. Because there were less than 10 minutes to play, Tigers were not likely to get more than 2 possessions at most. If they failed to get the 2, the best they could hope for was a tie if they were successful the second time, whereas if they kicked the EP then they would have an option to go for tie or win later if they got the 2d TD.
