Subject: Harvard @ Brown ... football weekend in Providence

I will be in Providence this weekend.

For my Harvard friends, after a miserable weekend of storms in New England, the weather looks great.

Bears/Crimson always a great game-day experience. (no need for Lee Corso).

Close proximity to Boston attracts a good student crowd from both schools. Train is an easy trip. Harvard usually has student busses from Cambridge.

This is Football Alumni weekend for Brown.

Reminder that the visitor section faces the sun. Hats and sunglasses advised.

Brown has a in-stadium beer garden with Bear-branded beverages from local Narragansett Brewery. Live music in the tailgate area. Plenty of food trucks and food served.

Locally, the Providence food scene is very good. Thames Street has lots of college/bar food options. Plenty of hotels downtown. The riverwalk is nice this time of year.
Note: the walk from the river up College Hill is steep. Older folk might want to taxi or rideshare.

Stadium parking is limited, but there are shuttle buses from campus. The walk from campus to Brown Stadium through a nice historic neighborhood in the Fall is pleasant . (Ms.ivy guy insists on the one mile walk).

Lets Go Bruno!

For some reason, the rumor is that the H band will not be attending. On the other hand, it will be a huge celebration for the Brown Band in its centennial year.

Please, I don't need any more awkward questions from my grandaughter.

Nor any incentive for her to think about Harvard as a destination.

ivy guy, great write-up. It seems to me that Brown students actually attend the biennial game in Cambridge in greater numbers than the do the game in Providence! But, such is the allure of a night out in Boston, I suppose.

Hoping for a great crowd. I just bought tickets and it looked like there were very few purchases so far, which is a bit puzzling a few days out from the game with a quintessential late September day in the forecast. Maybe everyone bought GA.

Go Bruno! Is this the year we finally slay the dragon?
