We will face tougher opponents; it’s good to win but the score was misleading. The key stat after the score speaks volumes: 5-19 in the passing game. It was a different QB starter from last week. Not sure where we go from here at that position. Special teams looked good but we definitely need to make a week 2 to week 3 jump.

I have always liked that we start with 2 OOC games to get ready for a run for the only prize we can get in football, the League title. The downside, equally applicable to other Ivies, is that injuries can accumulate.

5/19 for 80 yards (half on one play) isn't likely to win many games.

As you say some positives. And one egregious RTP call on 3d down that denied getting possession in H territory and led to their TD probably skewed the score (notwithstanding some iffy calls in Tigers' favor that were not as consequential situationally).

But yes, they had better keep ramping up.

Agreed that a win is a win. I also thought the defense played cohesively and aggressively, much better than they looked the previous week. And the ground game, led by Volker also was much more effective than against Lehigh. But aside from the one beautiful TD throw, the air game never got into a rhythm. Passing plays seemed disjointed and McCalister was only dangerous when he scrambled, which he did to great effect.

I wonder if Coach Surace will stick with one of the Blaines or move down the depth chart to find an answer?

Yes, the defense and run game were better than last week but, no disrespect to HU, Columbia will be a more realistic test. And HU also committed 11 penalties. At least it did not rain nearly as much as it did at the Bryant game last year.

Trentonian sheds more light on the QB situation:

“McAllister only found out he was starting on Friday after Blaine Hipa picked up an injury in the opener at Lehigh. Coach Bob Surace said Hipa was cleared to play on Thursday, but since he hadn’t taken any of the practice reps the decision was made to go with McAllister.”

Thanks for posting, it gives a more positive perspective on the team’s overall performance and now we have 2 QBs with a game’s worth of experience. I wondered if Hipa had been injured. We still need to show improvement particularly in the passing game.

Beat Columbia on the road and then I will start drinking the Kool Aid

Until then QB position is a huge question mark
