Subject: National Rankings...oh oh

The AFCA FCS Coaches poll has (assuming I counted correctly):

DC 28th
H 34th
Col 41st

The Stats poll:

DC 29th
H 40th

But the ranking that most caught my eye is Mercer, P's next opponent: 7th and 8th respectively. The polls are not only always predictive as Columbia showed in its opener and underdogs often win. But having just gotten solidly defeated by a Columbia team getting a few votes in one poll and none in the other, playing a team, and at their place, in the top 10 with our current needs to improve on both sides of the ball, I am not optimistic. Would love to be proven wrong. And while I prefer an upset, improved play and no more injuries will be something of a plus even in defeat, if it happens.

Just listened to the podcast.

Mercer is coming off a bye week.

Its first team defense has outscored opponents.

Football scheduling is done as much as 10 years out. With League realignment it sounded like we were dropped and Mercer was one of the few options.

Seven of the 8 P injured are expected back either for this week or next vs. Brown.

Highest ranked team we will play since 2002, per Chruschiel.

I had forgotten that Lehigh used to be good.
