As I look around the league, it's difficult for me to see where another win will come from. However, I felt that way last year and they managed to beat Penn and Columbia on the road. The Ivy schedule is filled with surprises.

FWIW, I was more disappointed with the offense than the defense, which kept us hanging around despite 5 turnovers from the offense. The fumbles were killer, but equally bad were the first two interceptions from Willcox, the first of which set up a Princeton touchdown, the second of which brought a successful drive at the end of the first half to a screaming halt. Childs is very raw, but Willcox is in his third season as starter.

I imagine Perry will be around for the foreseeable future. He has brought the team back to respectability after the nadir of the late Estes years and he has a new indoor practice facility on the way. Brown Athletics has shown a good deal of loyalty to the prodigal sons who make their way back to College Hill - case in point, Brandon Whittet, who still finds himself gainfully employed despite years of mediocrity. Underclassmen and juniors are contributing on this team, which provides hope for the future.

That being said, it's too early to write off this team. They can score in bunches and if they eliminate the self-inflicted wounds, they may surprise a team or two this fall.

“Mediocrity” is too kind a description for Brendan Whittet, who has amassed a career winning percentage around .350 over his 14 seasons at Brown. Many of us would kill for such job security.
