In reply to: Moonbear 's message, "Brown @ Princeton" on 19:15:01 10/18/24 Fri

I think Princeton will be underdogs in at least 4 of its remaining 5 games. I think that Relative Game Day Availability will be a factor in some --many?-- Ivy games the rest of the way. Impressed by DC's success so far with a backup QB.

Anyone know Volker's status?

Perry may turn out to be another Archer. But he may be another Teevens Part II. After the latter's return, DC endured 6 straight losing Ivy season, but eventually turned it around to great success until his catastrophic accident and tragic loss. The program's continued high performance, especially under terrible circumstances, is a huge part of his legacy, IMO, as well as a tribute to and by the DC staff and roster. Whether Brown turns it around remains to be seen, and might even be doubtful, but I wouldn't rule out improvement under Perry if Brown sticks with him the way DC did with Teevens.

Surace is a great guy who has spoken with great warmth about Teevens, publicly and privately. No surprise about the headset sticker.

Speaking of Surace, he has done a great job in taking advantage of P's advantages and trying to overcome the obstacles he faces at Princeton. Only Colman (from '57-'68) has as many Ivy titles at P after decades of mediocrity punctuated by too few good seasons and titles -- going back over 50 years. I credit Walters for making the hire. This year we will have to fight uphill for a winning League record against a pretty well balanced, talented Ivy slate.
