Precedent or not the H-P decision has been discussed ad nauseum and the officials followed the proper procedures at the time. If harvard had not been involved, this game would have slipped quietly into history by now. Nearly every team feels cheated by officiating at some time.

LSU was just called for grabbing Jalen Milroe's face mask on a critical third down play.

Here come the water bottles. Dozens of them thrown from the stands onto the field. The game is delayed while stadium staff pick them up.

Gee, what a surprise.

College football can thank the officials at the Georgia-Texas game earlier in the season.

What about the hat trick in hockey! Want to get rid of that beloved tradition?
And didn't Rangers fans take to hurling octopi onto the ice in a bye gone era?
May not be entirely apropos but reminds me of then newly minted color commentator Johnny Unitas, decrying a fan who had thrown a pint (1/2 pint?) empty liquor bottle at the head of an official during a game he was calling. His words something to the effect, hey that's not American, that's something they do in those countries that play soccer!

I'll say these two things about fans who throw their baseball caps onto the ice after a home team player scores a hat trick:

(1) They are less careful with their wardrobe accessories than I am. A high end baseball cap goes for $30-40 at retail these days. I am not throwing my cap onto the ice.

(2) These fans are not trying to influence or overturn an officiating decision. In the Georgia-Texas game, fans were successful in impacting the action of the field.

Adorning the field with tokens of fan affection has been a longstanding custom. Burnt toast, anyone?
