As a lifelong fan of the Sox and Tiger Basketball, it’s hard to know whether to cheer or break down in tears. So I will.

Of course, the wisdom of Moe Berg ‘1923 — who spent five luxurious years on the South Side at the old Comiskey Park — can always be of help. “Perhaps I could not hit like Babe Ruth, but I spoke more languages than he did.”

And to quote Washington Senator player Dave Harris, "He can't hit in any of them."

Columbia can also lay claim to him, as a Law School grad.

Don’t dismiss the critical nature of the linguistics.

Berg played second base at Princeton — never caught until he went pro — and when the opposition had runners on base, he switched and called infield signals in Latin.

Helpful in law school too.
