What do you guys of the portable lights at the Yale Bowl yesterday? I am not sure why they brought them in. Game started at noon, only takes about 3 and half hours to complete the game, does not get really dark to 5pm.

a waste of money? were they anticipating the game to go longer? just wondering.

Yes, the possibility of overtime changes the calculus.

This is the updated equation:

[P(overtime) + P(inclement weather) + P(student protests)] * P(embarrassment in national media) + [P(complaints from administration of Harvard/Princeton if they lose Yale Bowl finale) * (Influence of Erin McDermott/John Mack with Robin Harris) = Better get the portable lights
