 I really like your reference to competing against the least common denominator. But that does suggest we're chasing to top prospects. I wonder if a "middle ground" or even bottom tier develops with it's own more sane parameters. We will never chase Cooper Flagg, but we have landed Malik Mack and others around the top 100 realm.

Amaker has not been quite as successful recently with his top drawer recruits. While many of Henderson’s top players have come in under the radar, others have come in as 2 or 3 stars and outperformed expectations and complemented the skills of other team members. Less celebrity, with better results.
