Harvard Law School, a place of aspiring litigators, is down significantly.

Media articles say the defendants are Penn, Harvard, the Ivy League, and the NCAA.

If the NCAA settles, what exactly are the remaining defendants supposed to do?

Even Harvard's president is feeling defensive after the last election.

Maybe you're right that the Ivy goes down fighting in this suit. I'm not as confident as you are on that front, but I'll be watching to see which of us is right...

GG, your timing is sublime as the NCAA just announced minutes ago that, effective immediately, NCAA championships will limit women competitors to individuals assigned female at birth.

And no defendant likes seeing a co-defendant settle independently.

Having said that, a lot of what our alma maters do is performative. Sometimes, being performative means doing the opposite of what others do, because it's the opposite of what others do. We're not afraid to go our own way. We just opted out of the revenue-sharing agreement that all other conferences bought into.

Our administrations answer to a lot of constituencies. The constituencies which are closest and loudest are the current students and faculty. We know what they want.

Like you, I'm watching with interest. This will be a meaningful litmus test as to whether our eight administrations realize that, like it or not, the world has changed.

It took the NCAA less than 24 hours to fold. What will we do?

So can the NCAA. So apparently can Harvard's President.

I'm sympathetic to Thomas and others who want to play for women's teams. Really. But public support just isn't behind them. Not by a long shot.

Trans advocates really got to ask themselves some hard questions about going forward. Should they double down, or live to fight another day?

And I suspect that those conversations are going to be held in Ivy leaderships rooms in the very near future...

My comments were strictly about athletics.
