Joe Paterno once said "coaches get more credit than they deserve when things are going well .... and they get more blame when they are not". Valmas nailed-it on the Columbia/Brown MBB and WBB games last weekend.

Interesting, too, that the Brown grad with the ever-present Brooklyn accent made his mark, both memorable and ignominious, in the Keystone State. Interesting because the Columbia men's basketball team traveled to Pennsylvania early in the current season and took down Villanova by ten points.

That was noteworthy at the time; and brought to mind last night in a bigger way when that Villanova team defeated eighth, nationally-ranked, St. John's, in the same Finneran Pavilion in Villanova,Pa. Of course, this is, in no manner, saying there a nationally-ranked men's basketball team on Morningside Heights; but, as our Brown contingent suggests, there may be some actual coaching taking place with the Columbia men as we more readily acknowledge as related to the Columbia women.
