Columbia's shortstop Sam Miller just blasted a walk-off grand-slam home run at Satow Stadium in Manhattan to give the Ivy League leading Lions an exciting 13-9 victory over Cornell. Miller's towering ninth inning blast capped off another dramatic comeback by the reigning Ivy League champions. Columbia nos leads the Ivies with a 7-2 record followed closely by the University of Pennsylvania. Junior pitcher Tom Santana and freshman hurler Alex Sotiropoulos combined for the win for the Lions

a classic Boretti game—after a dominant first game, the Lions were outplayed in the second game and Santana had an uncharacteristically shaky performance in game three. Yet somehow a 5 run late inning deficit became a walk off grand slam win in the bottom of the 9th. I saw that Selinsky was back in the DH spot; I don’t know if Jeon and Leon are out for the season, but Brett seems to find a way to win no matter who goes down. And is Sam Miller the most clutch player in the IL or not?

Miller made an extraordinary clutch grand slam home run in the ninth inning yesterday to keep Columbia at the top of the Ivy League standings. The Lions are very talented, but the whole Ivy League has improved dramatically the last few years. The talent level had improved considerably on most of the teams. I am surprised that the Ivy League has done so little to get people out to the games. The product is really very good and the ticket price is a bit less than at Fenway and the other major league stadiums in the Northeast.

What a last three innings!

Columbia closes the gap by scoring 2 in the 7th and then 2 more in the 8th.

In the 9th, Columbia scores the tying run on a bases-loaded walk. Then Miller cranks a grand slam. Beautiful. Just beautiful!
