In reply to: Ed S. 's message, "Ivy League Men's Lacrosse Tournament" on 21:29:52 05/02/25 Fri

Gritty wins by both Tiger teams.

Defense for men has been outstanding (no goals last night for H’s AA Sam King) but #1 Cornell is a juggernaut playing on its home field and Princeton will need to hold its own for FOs to have a shot.

Women pulled away from Yale in the 2H when they played in New Haven but that was a month ago.

Both games should be fun to watch!

Agreed on men. They will have to play better than last night on offense (shots on goal %) and in minimizing turnovers. As for FOs, you are exactly right - Cornell poses a far larger challenge than Harvard (58% versus 40% for the season), notwithstanding last night's commentators' praise for Harvard's strategy of gaining control through GBs or turnovers after losing the initial clamp.

A few years ago Tigers found a way to neutralize Cornell's Jeff Teat but their current offense has scorers everywhere. I would almost rather they not show their defensive hand now in case they meet again in the NCAA, but I don't know there is any untried strategy against Cornell.
