One of those peculiar Ivy days when you go with the chalk.

In Ithaca, Cornell men wasted no time, scored six in the first quarter and cruised 17-8 over Harvard. Princeton scored seven in a row around halftime and hung on to beat hot Yale 12-10. Eli with an outside chance at NCAAs, Crimson done. Princeton has a shot at #1 seed.

In New Haven, Yale women moved to a 6-2 halftime lead over Brown and cruised 11-6. Princeton ran wild 11-4 across the middle two periods against Penn to avenge their earlier 2OT loss 15-10. Tigers and Eli definitely in NCAAs, not particularly high, almost certainly nobody else.

I turned the games on with P women down 4-0 who then go on a 10-1 run; P men down 6-2 who reverse fortunes and then gang on 12-10. Well done by these Tiger teams.

Harvard's only chance was to stay at least around 40% at FO, and play an efficient offense (limit turnovers and empty posessions). They did not.

When Princeton played Cornell in March they got an early lead, but Cornell was unfazed and just kept playing hard especially on defense. Tigers need to take a page from that book.

Every word of sparman’s is correct.

But watching the Tigers run off twelve goals to open the second half against Penn (seven different scorers) and seven against Yale should probably cause some concern in the Red locker room. The Penn thing especially was scary, they gave up eleven goals PER GAME on the season.

Also, it pains me to say it, but I think Yale's best chance is if Hopkins wins the Big10 tournament (assuming Richmond, also a clear at large, does not lose its tournament). They would be a clear at large if they lose the tournament, whereas if PSU loses the tournament they have a weaker at large case. Unfortunately for Yale, PSU beat Yale decisively earlier in the season and the Committee tends to forgive/forget only early season losses suffered by ACC teams.

Both the Tiger men and women will have the opportunity to avenge disappointing home losses in the ILT final. Both have excellent goalies and many offensive weapons, defense and avoiding TOs for 60 minutes will be the challenge in the championship games on Sunday.

Go Tigers!
