In reply to: Ivy Inquisitior 's message, "Yale transfer destination" on 12:17:30 01/12/26 Mon

Are the players listed here going for grad years? Or do any of them have eligibility left in the Ivies?

Or is that a dumb question in the world of NIL and no need to sit a year?

Understood, not the first to go that route as a rising senior.

Am hoping the Ivies revisit graduate student eligibility. I think the last time it was brought up in league meetings it got voted down 5-3. One comment: It is a bit disturbing that some of the athletes keep fishing around for more eligibility. My comments are not directed at the Ivy players seeking one more year. My concern is those individuals who have 6,7,8, or 9 years of eligibility usually due to injuries sustained during their athletic careers.

I like how college football announcers now casually refer to a player in his seventh year of college football as a sign that he is experienced and therefore poised under pressure. Keep in mind that a guy in his seventh year of college football is at the average age of a guy ENDING HIS NFL CAREER after the mean pro career of 3.5 seasons.

Not only are college football players now making money and transferring schools like hired guns, their paid college careers end at the same age as NFL careers.

We never realized that when John Blutarsky in 1962 referred to "seven years of college," he was prescient.

At least those 7 years aren't "down the drain"!

Of course they weren't. He learned it wasn't over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

How many 1-year graduate degrees are offered by Ivy schools? I assume most graduate transfers at others schools are in non-degree programs (i.e., just taking courses) but hard to see that model working here.

Don't know the answer to your second comment, but I read about both 2-year programs for which one year is paid via scholarship amd also 1-year "certificate" programs whose bona fides I cannot say.
