Now that FCS has gone to 12 games permanently, the FCS season will start one week earlier than the FBS season, every year.

FCS Week 1 is = FBS Week Zero. This is because FCS finishes a week earlier to start their playoffs. So, practically every FCS school will now start their season in August, the weekend _before_ Labor Day.

So from now on, every season will now be like 2025: the opener for Ivy teams will be the 4th game for practically all FCS teams.

It's going to get increasingly difficult to schedule non-conference opponents with such a late start, especially with the Patriot League expanding and moving to a 9-game conference schedule.

At the very least, staying at 10 games, starting a week earlier and adding a bye week mid-to-late October would be an obvious adjustment to make.

Going to 11 games with a bye, and starting two weeks earlier (FCS Week 2) would be even better, but we know how slowly The Ivy Presidents move. ("We just gave you the playoffs, now you want more?!")

As I noted before, it is clear that the Ivy League should commence its football season for scheduling and academic reasons. There is ample precedent as reflected by our most recent Ivy team fall sports schedules.

Ivy soccer season commenced the weekend of August 23rd and had six games scheduled before Saturday, Sept 13th.
Ivy water polo season commenced the weekend of August 30th and had eight matches scheduled before Saturday, Sept 13th.
Ivy rugby season commenced the weekend of August 30th and had two games scheduled before Saturday, Sept 13th.
Ivy volleyball season commenced the weekend of Sept 6th and had four matches games scheduled before Saturday, Sept 13th.
