This development is surprising. These are strange times at Penn. They are comming up on a decade since their last championship. Starting in the early 80's until the the 2010's it seemed like it was implied each graduating class on The Penn football team would win two Ivy Championships.
Ray Priore tenure had grown stale but it was premature to force him out.

Jim Knowles is Penn St DC. What will his status be in a few weeks? He could be a replacement but I don't expect him to take perhaps a 85% pay cut. He'll likely get another high profile DC position or a Gruop 5 HC job.

Recently fired Raiders OC Cho Kelly could be the best candidate. Dozen years ago he was The Philadelphia Eagles Coach. There was a post on this platform stating he was interested in the Harvard position.North Texas UConn and California has opened up. So, Penn better act promptly. Chip Kelly might be the one to return Penn Football to their Halcyon days.

He terrified me. But there were others on the team who were more than happy to follow him into battle.

If he can get those type of guys on a squad, look out...

Sure, he might apply. But with a 9–27 record at his last head coaching job, and out of coaching for the last 3 years, I doubt he's a serious candidate.

Penn would regress with Tom Gilmore. He should just go and sell insurance. He was terrible at the end of his reign at Holy Cross and was a disaster at Lehigh. Both coaches who followed him were immediately successful. Just shows he can’t coach and besides, he’s a hothead disciplinarian. He loses the locker room everywhere he goes and culture goes downhill.
