Today’s 1-0 Tiger victory at preseason favorite Penn not only gives them a spotless 7-0 league record, but they become the first team in seventy years of Ivy soccer to go unscored-on in the league.

Depending on your choice of polls, Princeton now ranked 1st—3rd in the country.

Crimson first Ivy to score this year on Tigers in fifth minute, then hung on for dear life for 40 minutes. Tigers then with three goals in 10 minutes, and on to finals.

Princeton and Cornell have probably both clinched NCAA slots, but Sunday Ivy final could seriously affect placement. Could be a great game.

Looking forward to the championship game even though Princeton is the favorite.

Cornell gave it a huge go, but Tigers managed a goal early and with their brutal trapping defense kept the Red on rhe edges for the rest of te game. Another goal way late when Red was desperate make it seem less tight, but a great game.

Cornell could go deep in the NCAA if they get a decent draw. Princeton, with 11 shutouts now and eleven seniors on the roster, will probably be favored against anybody. Draw announced tomorrow night.

Cornell has a first round game Thursday at Storrs against Lafayette, and will be a heavy favorite. Winner gets #13 seed UConn on Sunday; Huskies/Red would be a great game.

Princeton seeded #3 with a bye, then home field in second round Sunday. They get the Duke/FDU winner from Thursday. Duke RPI below Cornell, above Harvard.

Top four seeds a real mix — 1)Vermont, 2)Virginia, 3)Princeton, 4)Maryland.

Big Red crushed upset Patriot winner Leopards; Lafayette never got a shot on goal.

Next up: Sunday second round vs. UConn at Storrs, a team rated almost equally with Ithacans. Should be really good.

Also Sunday: Duke at Princeton

Cornell 1-3 UConn
Duke 2-1 Princeton

Similar scripts, both Ivies got out to leads but couldn’t hold them. A rather abrupt ending to the league’s fortunes, especially 3 seed Princeton, who got beaten at home after a 1-0 halftime lead.

Time to root for Yale and Harvard.
