Interception by P, ball at midfield, H 10-7 lead mid 2Q

Good tight contest.

Terrible situational play calling and execution by Tigers at end of 1H.

They have made just a few mistakes but they are undermining an otherwise well played half.

I never raise a second guessing if I didn’t say it before the bad result. But with 45 seconds left, up a point against a 2 TD favorite, 3rd and 10 at our 25 after 2 inc passes, I said out loud to no one in particular: run it and then punt. Take the lead into half time. On replay, it looked like a defender was able to barely touch the pass, sending it right to the DB. A WR had looked open.

There was no scoring in the 3rd quarter and we were shut out altogether in the second half. So if if the pass play was a bad call, it turned out to be harmless error. Surace plays pretty sggressively and it often pays off.

I agree Bengal but I understand to beat Harvard you have to be aggressive. Maybe Surace thought it was his best shot to be aggressive there and roll the dice in the 2nd half. Harvard has too many skilled players and depth so you have to take a shot when you can. Good thing is that we have a QB. Keep Hipa on the bench.

I hear you. I think it was his first chance to be aggressive and he took it. In the end it didn’t matter, we couldn’t score in the second half.

I agree with being aggressive especially if you are playing what is, objectively, a better team. But they had a lead and were getting the ball to start 2H. Go ahead and try a pass play on first down, but do NOT give up a cheap scoring opportunity. They should have run on 2d and 3d to at least force H to use up its TOs. QB also should have pulled it down and run even if he wasn't going get a first because you at least want to use up clock, but IMO this was secondary to the play call which created a bad situation.

Overall I am encouraged by team's progress despite what I think was a lost opportunity in this game.

Personally, I thought the game turned around when Princeton's DB dropped an interception in the end zone right before Harvard's field goal late in the second quarter.

If he catches that, he's likely got a 102-yard pick six. And tons of momentum for the Tigers. Alas...
