Subject: State of The League

My resent picks went 3-1 and 2-0 for Ivy auxiliary football.Bring the current total to 27-13 and 9-3.

Key question is will a second Ivy team get a playoff bid? Based on the lack of respect in the polls I doubt it. I believe a 7-5 team will get an at large over a 8-2 Ivy.But I expect that to change in a few years after playoff visibility.

Three weeks ago I said Brown's win over Bryant has put them in excellent shape on achieving their first winning season in twelve years and James Perry looks like a serious Ivy COY candidate. Three weeks later I'm saying they look like the league's disapoiment of the year. Although Columbia is in terrible condition, every Two- three years they have a "off season ". Then they follow it up by returning to their winning ways.

Columbia may have to rely on enjoying the moment. Whether it's a pancake block, interception on team fellowship or the bus to a game. There's always The Empire State Bowl.

Cornell's defense for the second straight week made a late 4th quarter stop to set up a victory.Few weeks ago, I said this team is better than their 0-4 record indicates. Now they're enjoying three straight wins for the first time in nine years. I'm not convinced they're going to get a winning season or 5-5 but this dicotomus team is capable of making some noise down the stretch. Question is who will be be, when and how will it occur?

Dartmouth's defense got off to a slow start but has been on track for a few weeks heading into the Harvard game. Dartmouth is in good shape to end up with their usual place- a split Championship with eight wins. For some reason this team does not seem as good as their record shows.

Harvard's offensive line did a stellar job on pass protection.Their defensive line was equally impressive in the 4th quarter. As they routinely shutdown Dartmouth's back field. The defense sealed the win with a late game stop on a qb sneak on 4th and 1.

Penn's stout defensive line has been a fixture. This unit did a great job of shutting down Brown's good running game.

Princeton this year has been a character of many faces. Last week they're back to their usual selves with their smash mouth play in both sides of the ball. Few weeks ago The Tigers leaned on several QB draws to a win. Which face will show up next? It will be fun like guessing Oregon's next uniform combo.

Yale continues to dominate in November. For Harvard's sake they better wrap up the league championship by week nine.

Ivy Sprint Football:
Penn lost Navy 36-21 and Cornell lost to Caldwell 20-13. Both had an impressive performance dispite being overmatched.

Week 8 Picks:

Harvard over Columbia
Yale over Princeton
Dartmouth over Brown
Penn over Cornell
Gane of the Week, Trustees Cup: Penn over Cornell

Potential Upsets of the week:

Brow, despite being a huge disappointment they very capable of upsetting Dartmouth.

Trustees Cup: Rivalries tend to bring out the best. This can be especially true for always dichotomous Cornell

Ivy CSFL:
Cornell(0-6) over STAC (1-5)
Penn(1-5) over Molloy(1-5)
