Subject: Mercer game/Surace/BT Author: Bengal [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 22:57:17 10/12/25 Sun No wonder P fans are talking about men’s soccer rather than the Mercer game. This game went about as I thought it would go. Perhaps the coaches saw more positives than I did; the main positive for me was that a lot of young players are getting playing time. Some of this is due to graduation, most of it is due injuries, and some is happening because a couple, like frosh WR Robinson, are good enough to hsve earned it. The other notable positive is Surace’s showing such regard for a tragically fallen rival. He is still wearing his BT headset. It was very noticeable and the ESPN team calling the game noted it. I wonder if any other HC is still doing this? Murphy would hsve, thry were such good friends. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ]

The one that hurt the most was the turnover on the first drive of the second half. That was the dagger in my mind. What's my biggest concern though is the inability of the Tigers to get any pressure on the QB with just their front line. They even blitzed a few times and got nowhere near that QB. I did see many injured Tigers on the sideline but I did not notice who they are. (this was my annual game with my grandkids so I wasn't really paying attention so much to that). Anyway, back to the IL this week and the good news as that they are still in it. Maybe if they can get some kids back, they can make some noise. Otherwise, it could be another down year.

If the other team has a competent passer and the ball with a minute left in a half, it's a nearly guatanteed score. I think they will be competitive generally in the IL but not with Harvard and a couple others.

Several injuries have negated their effectiveness. I noted the pass rush concern after game 1. Based on the season to date, I think we are underdogs in almost all of our remaining games. Mid season improvement coukd change that.

I’m concerned about our offense as both QBs are seniors. When it becomes obvious that we are out of this year’s race we need to start grooming someone (preferably a F or S )for the future. I want at least one more title and hopefully one more unbeaten season before I meet the Great Tiger in the Sky.

They essentially rotate QB's through the game which doesn't help things IMO because no offensive rhythm is established. My choice is #12 He has the arm Go with him except for special situations BTW Mercer is real good.

My observation about him is that he seems to play better against tougher teams than Hipa does. I don't like the rotation and Colon is a far more accurate passer. I was at the Mercer game and one thing I cannot stand is Hipa's body language out there. He simply does not play with confidence. Use him near the goal line. Weiner cannot get out of his own way.

This was against a very tough Mercer defense. He may have seen more time because Geer and Rossi were unable to play Saturday.
